Brackley Green Wheel Project

The "Brackley Green Wheel" is a joint project between The Wildlife Trust and Brackley Town Council and aims to improve the natural environment of Brackley for wildlife and people through a series of habitat, access and interpretation projects.

The project is funded by the "Radstone Fields" residential development site on the northern edge of Brackley town.

The main area of focus has been St James Lake and the adjoining pocket park which runs along the course of an old railway line. Trees have been removed, streams and ponds cleared, and footpaths upgraded. A new permanent dam ensures that the water level in the ponds will be maintained and by putting a few larger rocks in the stream, the flow of the stream is slowed, creating currents which in turn create a range of habitats in the water.
